PARIS JUNE 2024 - SHOP REPORT

Last weekend, I went to Paris and spent a day exploring the shops to see what was new and interesting.

One of my most striking observations was the sheer amount of merchandise in the summer sale, especially in the ladies' and men's departments, though the children's sections were slightly less affected. It was disheartening to see so much summer stock had been marked down just as the weather was changing, highlighting the ongoing disconnect between the retail industry and the seasons.

Despite this, I managed to discover some gorgeous details and innovative uses of colour. As expected, some of the French collections had a patriotic feel, likely influenced by the upcoming Olympics.

I was also on the lookout for any evidence of retailers demonstrating conscious retail. Out of all the shops I visited, Galeries Lafayette stood out, with their ‘GO FOR GOOD’ collections which were highlighted prominently in the store.

In Natalys I noticed a really tasteful approach to displaying  markdown depths to customers:

Please see below my report on the themes, colours, fabrics and details that I thought were noteworthy.
